Snowmass Village Advances Infrastructure and Community Projects

Snowmass Village is making significant strides in enhancing its infrastructure and community services through several key projects.

Roundabout Construction at Brush Creek and Owl Creek Roads

Construction of a new roundabout at the intersection of Brush Creek Road and Owl Creek Road commenced in mid-March and is expected to continue through November. The project includes roadway improvements, upgraded bus stops, drainage and utility enhancements, and improved pedestrian and trail connections. Motorists should anticipate periodic lane closures and traffic shifts during this period. Public bus stops at the intersection will be closed after April 13 and are scheduled to reopen in mid-November. Alternative bus stops are available at Brush Creek Road and Faraway Road, as well as Brush Creek Road and Sinclair Road. For updates and detailed information, visit the town’s official website.

Little Red Schoolhouse Expansion

The town is also focusing on expanding childcare services with the redevelopment of the Little Red Schoolhouse. A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for June 17 from 11:00 a.m. to noon at 4598 Owl Creek Road. The expansion will add a 5,650-square-foot, single-story building featuring four classrooms with a capacity for up to 60 children. The project includes dedicated playgrounds for different age groups, additional parking, and improved pedestrian access. The new facility is designed to reflect the original historic schoolhouse and will provide modern amenities such as a kitchen, office spaces, and storage areas to support staff needs. The event is open to the community, with project team members available to answer questions and refreshments provided.

Seasonal Trail Closures for Wildlife Protection

In an effort to protect local wildlife, several public trails in Snowmass Village, including Anaerobic Nightmare, Sequel, and Tom Blake, will be temporarily closed during the last week of April. Additional trails will close and reopen throughout May as part of the town’s annual seasonal wildlife protection program. These closures are strictly enforced to safeguard sensitive habitats and local wildlife populations. Residents and visitors are reminded that accessing designated trails during wildlife-sensitive periods is unlawful under Section 10-29 of the Snowmass Village Municipal Code.

These initiatives reflect Snowmass Village’s commitment to improving infrastructure, expanding community services, and preserving the natural environment for residents and visitors alike.
